RSU22 Community Calendar

As we work through our strategic plan, we've noticed a desire from our community to have an integrated calendar for the various schools within the district. 

At any given time, each school has several events going on, from a play to a middle school soccer game, or a school board meeting.  Before the strategic plan discussions, there was no central location where everyone's events were shown. This causes events to be scheduled on top of each other and for them to be under attended.  

Nearly every stakeholder in the development of the strategic plan has cited the need for an integrated community calendar to improve local communications and resilience. We believe a community calendar will help us achieve the following strategic plan goals:

• Community Partnerships, Goal 1 (Family & Community Engagement), Action Step:  Increase the percentage of parents who participate in involvement opportunities at their child's school. 
• Community Partnerships, Goal 3 (Communication & Transparency), Action Step: Connect with the community to earn and promote community trust through ongoing communication, transparency, and marketing of RSU 22.
• Community Partnerships, Goal 4 (Campus Based Services), Action Step:  Expand the use of the RSU 22 facilities, i.e., Performing Arts Center, turf, multi-purpose room.
• Professional Excellence, Goal 1, Action Step:  Prioritize student/teacher productive relationship development as an essential instructional practice could fit because by having the community calendar folks from across the district can attend events that current or former students and build those relationships.

RSU 22 is dedicated to community, and community calendars can help bridge gaps, provide for mutual invitation, and broaden our sense of all that is going on in the diversity of the school district. 

In just the few short months of the calendar’s trial period, hundreds of events have been shared across RSU 22.
