Hampden Academy's Emily Albee Named 2022 Penobscot Teacher of the Year
Hampden Academy’s Emily Albee has been named the 2022 Penobscot County Teacher of the Year. Emily is the fourth teacher from RSU 22 to be recognized since 2014 through the partnership between Educate Maine and the Maine Department of Education, joining Smith School’s Kathryn Foran (2015 Waldo County Teacher of the Year) and Hillary Hoyt (2021 Waldo County Teacher of the Year) as well as Reed Brook’s Kelsea Stoyanova (2021 Penobscot County and 2022 Maine Teacher of the Year).
Ms. Albee was nominated by HA Principal Bill Tracy and recognized for her positive impact on both students and co-workers. “Emily has consistently shown her commitment to provide real world, relevant learning opportunities for her students. … As an inclusive, collaborative educator Emily has built a trust and respect with both her students and colleagues at Hampden Academy,” said Mr. Tracy.
Emily is able to motivate and connect students to the world by seeking out community partnerships and she’s passionate about what she does. “I teach because it is the honor of my life to work with and for the unique students in [my] room. It is a privilege to guide students as they connect with their passions and work to become meaningful problem solvers in the 21st century,” Emily said.
Ms. Albee is completing her 11th year teaching social studies in RSU 22 and has been a member of the Hampden Academy team since 2011.
Congratulations, Emily!
